Family and relatives gathered on Thursday to bid a final farewell to the 20-year-old man who died after being shot by police during a vehicle pursuit in the Greek city of Argos.
The funeral was held in a private ceremony attended by his mother and relatives who travelled from Russia to pay their respects. He was later laid to rest at a local cemetery.
The incident that led to his death began in the early hours of July 8, when the 20-year-old, who was on the autism spectrum, allegedly failed to stop at a police checkpoint.
A pursuit followed through the streets of Argos and nearby areas, during which police officers opened fire, critically injuring him with a gunshot wound to the head.
The young man remained in intensive care for four days before succumbing to his injuries on July 11.
The two police officers involved in the shooting have already been placed in pre-trial detention and are now facing upgraded criminal charges as the investigation into the incident continues.
