Athens is preparing to welcome thousands of participants on Sunday, September 28, for the 2025 Race for the Cure, the country’s largest sports event dedicated to a social cause.
Now in its 17th year in Greece, the event is organized by Alma Zois (the Hellenic Association of Women with Breast Cancer) with the support of the City of Athens and Think Pink Europe. Part of the global initiative launched by the Susan G. Komen Foundation, the race raises funds for breast cancer research, early detection programs, and patient support services across Greece.
Participants can join the 5K timed race, the 2K walk, or the digital race, which allows supporters to take part remotely by sharing photos and videos with the hashtag #GRFC2025. Dozens of teams, including families, friends, and corporate groups, have registered this year.
Ahead of race day, a Health Promotion Day will take place on Saturday, September 27, at Zappeion Park, featuring prevention talks, interactive activities, and an awareness expo.
Last year’s Athens Race for the Cure drew a record 45,000 participants, making it the second-largest Race for the Cure worldwide.
