Athens Metro Stations Close Temporarily for 5G Network Installation

To accommodate passengers during the closures, the Athens Mass Transit System (OASA) has introduced a temporary circular bus route, X12.

Four metro stations in Athens will remain closed from Monday, May 5, to Thursday, May 8, due to technical work related to the installation of a 5G network.

The stations affected—Elliniko, Argyroupoli, Alimos, and Ilioupoli—will close daily from 9:00 p.m. until the end of service. During this time, trains on Metro Line 2 will operate only between Agios Dimitrios and Anthoupoli.

To accommodate passengers during the closures, the Athens Mass Transit System (OASA) has introduced a temporary circular bus route, X12.

The route will begin and end at a specially designated area near the Agios Dimitrios metro station, alongside the starting point of Route 109. At Elliniko station, boarding and disembarking for the X12 will take place at the “St. Elliniko” stop toward Glyfada.
