A 61-year-old bakery owner in Mandra, West Attica, endured a violent robbery in the early hours of Wednesday when two masked men stormed into his shop, tied him up, and assaulted him before stealing cash and valuables.
According to the victim’s report to police, the attackers entered the bakery while he was alone, handcuffed him, and physically assaulted him as they demanded money and valuable items. After emptying the store’s cash register and seizing two of the victim’s bank cards, the assailants escalated the attack by using his keys to gain access to his home, located directly above the bakery.
Once inside the residence, they stole an undisclosed amount of jewelry before fleeing the scene, leaving the man restrained and injured.
The victim was discovered later by an employee who arrived at the bakery for her morning shift. Finding him tied to a chair and visibly battered, she immediately alerted the authorities.
Emergency services transported the man to Thriasio Hospital for medical attention. He is now recovering, while police have launched an investigation to identify and apprehend the perpetrators.
