Dead Dolphin Found Dumped Near Trash Bin in Greece

A dolphin in advanced decomposition was discovered abandoned beside a garbage container near Thessaloniki, raising fresh concerns after another dead marine mammal was found in the area just days earlier

A dead dolphin was discovered next to a garbage bin near Thessaloniki.

The animal, which was in an advanced state of decomposition, is believed to have washed ashore before being discarded in the trash by unknown individuals without notifying the relevant authorities.

Due to the condition of the dolphin, it was not possible to transfer the carcass for a forensic examination, and sanitary burial procedures will instead be carried out.

The incident is not considered isolated, as another dead dolphin was reportedly found on May 9 in a nearby town.

In that case, the founder of a Wildlife Rescue and Rehabilitation Team was informed and transported the animal for forensic examination in order to determine the cause of death.
