Deadly Loutsa Crash: 29-Year-Old to Testify Thursday

The 29-year-old man accused of causing a deadly traffic accident in Loutsa, Greece, is scheduled to appear before the magistrate on Thursday. The crash, which occurred last Saturday, claimed the life of a 24-year-old man and left two women seriously injured.

The defense requested a postponement of the hearing to review new evidence recently added to the case file. The accused appeared before the magistrate at 12:00 p.m. on Wednesday and left the courthouse in a police vehicle shortly after.

Driver Under Influence of Alcohol and Drugs

Toxicology results show the driver had consumed cocaine and had a blood alcohol level of 0.63 grams per liter, exceeding Greece’s legal limit of 0.50 grams per liter. Police sources also noted that the driver had previously been involved in a traffic incident in 2020, when he tested positive for cannabis use.

Victims and Aftermath

The accident occurred in Artemida when the driver, traveling at high speed, struck the 24-year-old and the two women. The 24-year-old had recently returned from Belgium, where he lived, to attend the graduation ceremony of his 21-year-old girlfriend.

Among the injured are the mother, sister, and partner of the 24-year-old. His girlfriend remains in intensive care with severe head injuries.

According to his lawyer, the accused is in poor psychological condition and has expressed sincere apologies and condolences to the victim’s family and the injured parties.
