A delivery rider was killed in a road accident on Christmas Day following a collision with a passenger car on a service road of a major highway in the Athens metropolitan area.

The fatal crash occurred at around 7:10 p.m. near a busy northern suburb of the Greek capital, when the motorcycle ridden by the delivery worker collided with a privately owned vehicle. The man, who was working for a food delivery platform, sustained fatal injuries at the scene.

Bystanders reportedly attempted to provide first aid until an ambulance arrived. Emergency medical personnel later confirmed that the rider had already died.

The driver of the car was detained by authorities and underwent blood tests to determine whether alcohol or other substances may have been involved.
