A 9-year-old boy was attacked and bitten by a dog Thursday night while he was in a public square in Evosmos, Thessaloniki.
The incident occurred shortly before 9 p.m. The dog, which was being held on a leash by a 44-year-old woman, attacked the child and bit him on the hip.
The boy was immediately taken by ambulance to a hospital in Thessaloniki, where he received the necessary first aid.
Police officers who were notified of the incident arrested the 44-year-old owner. She was later released on the orders of a prosecutor handling criminal cases.
She was also issued the prescribed administrative fine of €300.
