Eight individuals were arrested at various sites around the greater Athens area on Tuesday in a coordinated operation by Greek Police’s (EL.AS) anti-terrorism unit.

Reports state that the arrests are linked to a bomb attack against a bank branch in the central Athens district of Petralona in late January 2024, with responsibility taken by a hereunto unknown terrorist cell identified by an anonymous caller as the “Revenge Conspiracy”.

The suspects have reportedly been transferred to the main police headquarters in Athens, where an investigation is continuing.

Another explosive device went off across from Greece’s labor ministry in downtown Athens in the early morning hours last month, Feb. 3.

An anonymous caller at the time claimed responsibility on behalf of a group identified as the “Revolutionary Class Self-Defense”, possibly another name or offshoot of any of a handful of self-styled anarchist and anti-state urban terror groups that have plagued the Greek capital for decades.
