A fatal road accident in the northern suburbs of Athens has claimed the life of an elderly woman after she was struck by a truck in the early hours of Wednesday morning.
The incident occurred in the area of Menidi, known locally as Acharnes, on Agias Triados Street, shortly after 7:30 a.m., under circumstances that remain unclear.
Victim died after hospital transfer
According to initial reports, a heavy goods vehicle hit the woman as she was moving along the road. Emergency services were called to the scene immediately, and the victim was transported by ambulance to the KAT Hospital in Athens with severe injuries.
Despite medical efforts to save her, she died shortly after arrival due to the seriousness of her condition. Police quickly arrived at the scene and sealed off part of the street to facilitate an investigation into how the accident occurred.
