Escaped Convicts Arrested After Violent Robbery Attempt

Three fugitives with serious criminal records were caught after attacking a family and fleeing to a nearby village hideout in western Greece

Three escaped convicts accused of violent crimes have been arrested after a failed armed robbery at a family home in western Greece, police said.

The incident took place on Saturday where the suspects—reportedly heavily armed—attacked an elderly man during a home invasion.

According to authorities, the three men entered the property and brutally assaulted the elderly resident in an attempt to steal money.

The robbery was interrupted when a neighbor alerted the victim’s son, who rushed to the scene. Upon realizing they had been discovered, the suspects fled by jumping from a balcony, suggesting they were familiar with the area.

During the escape, one of the attackers fired a gun at the son as he pursued them. The victim was not seriously injured.

The suspects managed to escape on foot for several miles before hiding in a rented short-term rental in a nearby village.

Police tracked them down and arrested all three men, along with a female accomplice who had attempted to help them flee by car.

Investigators believe the robbery was motivated by false information that the home—also used as an olive oil production facility—contained €2 million in cash.

Authorities said the three suspects have extensive criminal records and are known prison escapees facing charges including murder.
