A major fire erupted at a plastics factory in Menidi, a suburb of Athens, causing total destruction of the facility. The blaze broke out shortly after 1 p.m. at the intersection of Dekeleias and Katara streets, quickly escalating due to the highly flammable materials stored inside.

Firefighters deployed 42 personnel across 19 vehicles to contain the inferno. The fire’s intensity posed a risk to nearby businesses, and several explosions were reported from oxygen cylinders stored close to the flames.
Authorities activated the 112 emergency alert system, urging residents in the area to remain indoors, close doors and windows, and follow official instructions. The fast-moving fire highlighted the dangers of industrial materials in densely populated areas.

As of the latest reports, the factory has been completely destroyed, while emergency services continue monitoring the surrounding area to prevent further damage.
