The weather is expected to become more unsettled toward the end of the week, when northerly winds will strengthen and temperatures will fall slightly across most of the country.
Tuesday, September 1
Tuesday will be generally clear, with sunshine prevailing across most of Greece. Temporary clouds will develop during the afternoon over western and northern mainland areas, bringing local rain or showers, mainly in mountainous regions.
Winds in the Ionian Sea will initially be light and variable before gradually shifting to northwesterly winds of up to 4 on the Beaufort scale. In the Aegean Sea, northerly winds will reach 3 to 5 Beaufort and locally 6.
Temperatures will remain largely unchanged, reaching 34 to 36 C on the mainland and locally 37 C. Temperatures across the islands will range from 30 to 34 C.
Attica
Attica will remain generally clear and sunny throughout the day. Temperatures will range from 22 to 36 C.
Winds will be variable at 2 to 4 Beaufort, while eastern areas will see northerly to northeasterly winds reaching 5 and locally 6 Beaufort.
Thessaloniki
Thessaloniki will see plenty of sunshine, with some clouds developing around the surrounding mountains during the afternoon. Local rain or showers are expected in those areas.
Temperatures will range from 22 to 33 C, with variable winds of 2 to 4 Beaufort.
Wednesday, September 2
The weather will remain generally clear on Wednesday, with plenty of sunshine across most of the country. From midday onward, however, temporary clouds will develop over western and northern mainland areas.
Local rain and showers are expected in Macedonia, Epirus, western Central Greece, the western Peloponnese and the mountains of Thessaly.
Isolated thunderstorms are also possible in northern Greece and could continue into the evening.
Northerly winds will reach 2 to 4 Beaufort and locally 5 in the Ionian Sea, while winds in the Aegean will reach 3 to 5 Beaufort and locally 6.
Temperatures will remain largely unchanged, reaching 34 to 36 C on the mainland and locally 37 C, mainly in western areas. Island temperatures will range from 29 to 34 C, reaching locally 35 C in the Ionian islands and the Dodecanese.
Thursday, September 3
Instability will increase on Thursday, initially affecting Central Macedonia and Thessaly and gradually spreading to other mainland areas during the afternoon.
Clouds will become temporarily heavier, bringing local rain and showers, while isolated thunderstorms are expected mainly in mountainous areas. Conditions are expected to improve from the evening.
Elsewhere, the weather will remain generally clear and sunny.
Northerly winds in the Ionian Sea will reach 3 to 5 Beaufort and gradually strengthen to locally 6 to 7 Beaufort in northern areas. In the Aegean, winds will reach 4 to 6 Beaufort and locally 7, temporarily reaching 8 Beaufort.
Temperatures will fall slightly across most of Greece, reaching 33 to 35 C on the mainland and 29 to 33 C in the islands.
