Weather conditions in Greece will deteriorate from the west on Wednesday, February 4, bringing rain and thunderstorms, while temperatures rise nationwide. Light snowfall is expected only in mountainous areas. Southeasterly winds will be strong to near-gale in parts of the Ionian Sea and strong in sections of the Aegean. African dust will be transported into western Greece, especially over the Ionian and nearby mainland areas.
Clouds will be locally increased across the country, with scattered rain in northern Greece and light snow in the mountains. After midday, conditions will worsen in western regions. The Ionian Islands and western mainland will see rain and thunderstorms, locally intense, with a significant chance of hail.
From late evening, rainfall will spread to the rest of the country, mainly affecting the Peloponnese, northern Greece, the Sporades, and the islands of the northern and northeastern Aegean. The strongest weather is expected in Macedonia, where thunderstorms will develop.

Winds
- Ionian Sea: South to southeast winds at 6–7 Beaufort, locally up to 8 Beaufort (near gale). By evening they turn southwest and weaken to about 5 Beaufort.
- Aegean Sea: Southeasterly winds at 4–5 Beaufort, gradually strengthening to 6 Beaufort and locally 7 Beaufort in the evening.
Athens (Attica Region)
Partly cloudy skies with increasing clouds after midday and a chance of light, brief rain. Southeasterly winds at 3–4 Beaufort, up to 5 Beaufort in the evening. Temperatures from 12 to 16–17°C.
Thessaloniki
Periods of light rain, becoming heavier in the evening, with a high likelihood of thunderstorms overnight into Thursday. Winds from the east at 2–3 Beaufort, turning southeasterly at 4–5 Beaufort in the afternoon. Temperatures from 6 to 11–12°C.
