Greek police carried out large-scale operations across settlements in Ilion, Aspropyrgos, Acharnai and Elefsina on March 24 and 26, targeting illegal activity in the western Attica region, the Hellenic Police (ELAS) announced.

The operations were conducted by officers from the West Attica Police Directorate, the Crime Investigation Sub-Directorate, the OPKE rapid response unit and the Attica Traffic Directorate.

During a search of a residence in Ilion, officers seized more than 6.2 kilograms of unprocessed cannabis, 452 grams of processed cannabis resin, 414 grams of crystal methamphetamine, a small quantity of cocaine, a pistol, a blank-firing weapon, a magazine, 16 rounds of ammunition, two precision digital scales, a knuckleduster, clothing bearing Greek Police insignia, handcuffs, four flares, five mobile phones and three high-value wristwatches.

Charges for drug and weapons offences were filed against the identified occupant of the apartment. A separate individual was arrested on an outstanding warrant for robbery and drug-related offences.

Across the broader operations, 293 people were checked, resulting in multiple traffic violations including driving without a licence, failure to wear a helmet and failure to wear a seatbelt. Six vehicles were immobilized, 12 driving licences and 11 vehicle registration documents were confiscated.
