Greek Tax Authority Reports Over 100 Violations in Tourism Sector

Inspectors found more than 100 violations in restaurants, leisure services, and beauty and beach rental businesses across popular Greek islands, resulting in fines, temporary closures, and ongoing investigations

Greek tax authorities have reported over 100 violations, within a week, in businesses operating in popular tourist destinations, including restaurants, leisure facilities, beauty services, and beach equipment rentals.

The Independent Authority for Public Revenue (AADE) conducted extensive preventive inspections on islands with high tourist activity, including Limnos, Lesbos, Tinos, Crete (Chania and Heraklion), Santorini, Rhodes, and Poros. Inspectors found that many businesses were failing to issue official tax receipts.

In all cases, authorities enforced a 48-hour business closure and imposed fines.

AADE also requested historical records from these businesses to review their tax compliance over time, aiming to identify any additional violations through cross-checking with the authority’s existing data.
