Greek Trapper Involved in Kidnapping Outside of Athens

A young man was kidnapped near Athens on May 6. The abductors demanded €25,000 in ransom and received part of it before the victim managed to escape.

A 24-year-old man, the son of a well-known businessman, endured a terrifying ordeal after being kidnapped by four individuals in the Hymettus area, located on the outskirts of Athens on May 6.

The perpetrators forcibly pushed the young man into a vehicle and transported him to the coastal town of Saronida in south Athens, where they held him captive for approximately five hours. During his captivity, they contacted his family and demanded a ransom of €25,000, to be delivered at a predetermined location in Glyfada.

Although the kidnappers managed to obtain part of the ransom, the victim eventually escaped and contacted the authorities.

An investigation led by the Police’s Anti-Extortion Division identified the suspects and launched a coordinated operation across several areas in Athens, resulting in their arrest.

Among those taken into custody is a well-known Greek trapper.
