Greece is bracing for worsening weather as the Hellenic National Meteorological Service (EMY) has updated its warning for heavy rain and thunderstorms that will continue through Wednesday, November 5, 2025.
According to the latest forecasts, localized heavy rain and storms are expected to impact areas of the eastern mainland and the northwestern Aegean, with timing and intensity varying by region.
Regions expected to see the most severe conditions include:
- Halkidiki and Limnos: Tuesday afternoon through late night.
- Sporades Islands and eastern Thessaly (Magnesia): Tuesday late afternoon through Wednesday midday.
- Eastern Sterea, including Athens: Tuesday early afternoon through evening.
- Central and northern Evia: Wednesday morning through evening.
In Athens (Attica region), rain is expected to persist until around 11 p.m. on Tuesday, with residents advised to exercise caution during peak rainfall hours.
Authorities recommend taking necessary precautions, especially for travel and outdoor activities, as localized storms may lead to flooding, reduced visibility, and hazardous road conditions.
The EMY emphasizes that these weather conditions are temporarily severe but widespread, affecting both urban centers and coastal areas. Residents in the forecasted regions should monitor updates and plan accordingly.
