A 23-year-old suspect appeared before an investigating magistrate in Thessaloniki on Tuesday over a fatal stabbing in the district of Kalamaria, which left a 20-year-old man dead.
The suspect requested additional time to prepare his defense and is expected to return to court on Wednesday to deliver his testimony.

The lawyer representing the victim’s family, Paraskevas Spiratos, said there is widespread public interest in the case but stressed that key questions remain unanswered. He noted that the suspect has so far avoided giving a full account of events.
According to the lawyer, the victim’s family is urging anyone with information to come forward, alleging a “code of silence” surrounding the incident.
“They are calling on witnesses, whether directly involved or bystanders, to assist the investigation,” he said, emphasizing that breaking this silence is crucial to establishing the truth.

Spiratos described the victim’s death as “agonizing,” stating that the young man suffered a severe wound to the heart and lost a significant amount of blood. Evidence, including video footage, is said to confirm the use of a knife in the attack.
He also highlighted that the suspect reportedly claimed he had no prior dispute or relationship with the victim or his group, raising further questions about the motive. The lawyer characterized the act as displaying “homicidal intent” and called for clear explanations during the upcoming testimony.
