Man Arrested for Indecent Exposure after Following Woman in Athens

A woman reported being followed in an underground passage near Syggrou Avenue, where police say the suspect exposed himself before being located and arrested shortly afterward

A serious incident was reported on Monday afternoon near Syggrou Avenue in Athens, opposite Panteion University, after a man followed a woman through underground pedestrian passages while exposing himself.

According to police information, the suspect, a foreign national born in 2001 who stated he was from Yemen, followed a Greek woman born in 2000 and committed an act of public indecent exposure inside the underground passages in the area.

The woman managed to get away and sought help near a nearby playground, where children were present at the time. The incident caused concern among people in the area, who immediately alerted the authorities.

Following a call to the police emergency service, officers located the suspect shortly afterward on Lagoumitzi Street and arrested him.

A case file was filed against him for violation of sexual dignity and for illegal entry and residence in the country.
