A man fell from a pedestrian bridge between Ano Patissia and Perissos in Athens prompting a temporary suspension of train service

A man lost his life in Athens after falling from a pedestrian bridge onto the railway tracks between Ano Patissia and Perissos stations, resulting in a temporary disruption of service on Metro Line 1, which runs from Athens to Piraeus.

Train service is currently operating only between Piraeus – Ano Patissia and Nea Ionia – Kifisia.

The man was found dead on Wednesday after falling from a pedestrian bridge and train traffic was immediately suspended.

Emergency services — including the Fire Brigade, EKAV, and police — were called to the scene and are handling the incident.

According to a statement from STASY, Metro Line 1 service is temporarily running only on the segments Piraeus – Ano Patissia and Nea Ionia – Kifisia, following the discovery of the individual near the tracks before the Ano Patissia station.
