A 62-year-old man died after suffering a severe injury while cutting wood with an axe in a remote wooded area in western Greece, authorities said.
According to local reports, the man, was alone in the forest in a village in Achaia when the accident happened.
Preliminary information suggests he was using an axe to cut wood when he accidentally inflicted a serious injury on himself. The wound reportedly caused heavy bleeding, and he died before he could receive help.
Because the location was isolated, no one initially realized what had happened.
Concern grew when the man failed to return home, prompting relatives to begin searching for him with the assistance of police. He was eventually found late Monday evening, but he had already died.
