Unions in Greece representing journalists and staff employed in the press and media sector have called a strike in all private and public mass media (print, broadcast, Internet) from 5 a.m. on Tuesday (April 16) to 5 a.m. on Wednesday (April 17).

The industrial action will take place a day before the General Confederation of Greek Workers (GSEE), the tertiary trade union body in the country, has called for 24-hour nationwide strike demanding higher wages, a return to collective bargaining agreements and measures against rising cost of living, among others.

Wednesday’s strike is expected to mostly affect public transports, train schedules and ferry boat routes, as participation by workers in the latter is usually high to universal.

Tovima.com will participate in the strike.
