A mild earthquake measuring 4.5 on the Richter scale was recorded at 01.17 in the early morning hours of Sunday in southeast Albania, and felt in the northwest Greece city of Florina, according to the National Observatory of Athens.

The epicenter of the tremor was pinpointed 125 kilometers west, northwest of the border crossing town of Krystallopigi.

The specific region has produced moderate quakes in the past.

Subzero temperatures were forecast for much of the mountainous parts of the wider area on Sunday and Monday.

On the occasion of the quake, Greek authorities again issued instructions to the public on what to do in case a strong quake takes place.
