The municipality of Nafplio has announced plans to improve accessibility at two local beaches, aiming to ensure that people with mobility difficulties can enjoy the sea safely and independently.
The initiative includes the installation of modern equipment and infrastructure at the beaches of Kantia Beach and Iria Beach, following the approval of technical specifications for the project earlier this year.
New Accessible Facilities
According to the municipality, the project will introduce a range of accessibility solutions designed to assist visitors with disabilities. These include:
- Autonomous sea access systems, allowing people with mobility impairments to enter the water safely
- Specialized beach pathways that make it easier to reach the shoreline
- Accessible hygiene facilities, including adapted restrooms
- Telemetry systems to remotely monitor the operation and condition of the installations
Goal of the Initiative
Local authorities say the project is part of a broader effort to create inclusive recreational spaces along the municipality’s coastline. The goal is to ensure that beaches in the area can be enjoyed by all residents and visitors, regardless of physical limitations.
