Twenty-eight people, including nine foreign nationals – eight women and a man – were arrested inside the Athens Law School in the center of the Greek capital on Tuesday afternoon after authorities ended a pro-Palestinian occupation at the building.

The group of detainees were later charged with five misdemeanors, including interruption of a public service and illegal weapons possession. They were given a trial date of May 28, 2024 by a relevant prosecutor and released.

None of the foreign nationals arrested had any affiliation with the law school, according to authorities. Additionally, police said smoke flares, clubs, flags, masks and helmets were seized during the operation.

The occupation had commenced on Monday evening.
