Greek authorities are intensifying their investigation into the partner of a man accused of killing his uncle, as new details emerge in a double murder case that has shaken the coastal town of Finikounta.
According to information revealed during the investigation, the partner of the accused nephew has become a key figure due to inconsistencies in her statements. In her initial testimony, she did not mention that the 33-year-old suspect had used her cellphone to contact the employer of two 22-year-old men connected to the case. This omission later raised questions among investigators.
In subsequent statements, she described her partner as being in shock following the killings, saying he was unable to speak clearly or contact authorities himself. She claimed that another individual alerted police and that her partner avoided discussing details of the crime due to emotional distress.
However, when evidence surfaced confirming phone calls made shortly after the murders, her account changed. She then acknowledged multiple calls to the employer, explaining that they were made to inform him of what had happened and that the conversations were marked by confusion, disbelief, and emotional distress as they traveled to a local police station to give a statement.
In her most recent testimony, she expanded further, describing how the situation escalated when one of the suspects attempted to surrender and was recognized. She said the employer expressed guilt, believing he bore responsibility for introducing the individuals involved.
The partner also confirmed that she knew the suspect who remains at large through his work connection, noting that she had met him at a business where one of the younger men had been employed.
According to the investigating judge’s findings, the nephew and the businessman are believed to have carefully planned the murders. After the killings, the alleged gunman reportedly went into hiding, while the nephew is said to have helped him travel the following day by driving him to a regional bus station.
Security measures have been tightened at the detention facilities where the two arrested suspects are being held, with authorities maintaining heightened vigilance as the investigation continues.
