Pregnant Woman Attacked with Fork by Husband in Athens

A 38-year-old woman, three months pregnant, was seriously injured after being attacked with a fork by her husband. She underwent surgery to save her eyesight, while the baby remains unharmed.

Greek authorities have arrested a 43-year-old man accused of attacking his pregnant wife with a fork in a shocking case of domestic violence that has horrified the public.

The incident occurred late Monday night in Attica, when the 38-year-old woman of Georgian origin, who is in the early months of pregnancy, was rushed to the emergency department of Attikon Hospital covered in blood and suffering from serious injuries to her face, arms, and abdomen.

Emergency Surgery to Save Her Eyesight

Doctors immediately performed surgery on the woman’s eyes in an attempt to save her vision. She remains under close medical supervision in the hospital’s obstetrics and gynecology ward.

Despite the brutality of the attack, medical staff confirmed that the unborn child is healthy and out of danger.

Arrest and Criminal Charges

Following the incident, the hospital informed the police. The alleged attacker, also of Georgian nationality, was arrested on Wednesday morning by officers from the Psychiko–Filothei Crime Unit.

Authorities have charged him with serious bodily harm and domestic violence, and he is expected to face a prosecutor in the coming days.
