Protests erupted in Athens and Thessaloniki on Wednesday night following Israel’s interception of the Global Sumud Flotilla, a group of vessels attempting to reach Gaza.
The initiative March to Gaza Greece called for demonstrations in front of the Ministry of Foreign Affairs in Athens and at the Venizelos statue in Thessaloniki. A similar gathering was announced in Chania on the island of Crete.

Crowds also rallied in Athens’ Syntagma Square, with thousands reportedly joining the protest. Organizers announced a new march for Thursday evening, beginning at Eleftherias Park at 6:00 p.m. and heading toward the Israeli embassy.
The interception of the flotilla has drawn international criticism and sparked calls for solidarity demonstrations in Greece, reflecting broader public opposition to Israel’s blockade of Gaza.
