Greece’s Ministry of Education has announced that student registration for public kindergartens and general education primary schools for the 2026-2027 academic year will take place from March 2 to March 23, 2026.
The process applies nationwide and is mandatory for families enrolling children in public nursery schools (Nipiagogeio) and first grade of primary school (Dimotiko).
Online Applications Through Official Platforms
As in recent years, applications will be submitted exclusively online.
Parents and legal guardians must log in using their personal TaxisNet credentials — the same secure tax identification system used for public digital services in Greece — in order to complete and submit the application, along with all required supporting documents.
The dedicated government platforms are:
- For kindergarten registration: https://proti-eggrafi.services.gov.gr
- For first grade of primary school: https://adimotikou.eservices.minedu.gov.gr
The Education Ministry emphasized that the digital process is designed to ensure transparency, security and speed, while guaranteeing equal treatment for all applicants.
How Students Are Assigned to Schools
According to the ministry’s announcement, the final placement of students in specific school units will take place after the registration period concludes.
Assignments will be based on the family’s permanent home address and the existing school district boundaries. This means that children are allocated to schools that correspond to their officially declared area of residence.
