Registrations are officially open for the 2025 Race for the Cure in Athens, set to take place on Sunday, September 28, with thousands expected to run, walk, and raise awareness in support of breast cancer research and treatment.
Organized by the non-profit organization Alma Zois (Leap of Life – Hellenic Association of Women with Breast Cancer) in collaboration with the City of Athens and with the support of Think Pink Europe, the event is part of the global Race for the Cure initiative founded by the Susan G. Komen Foundation.
Now in its 17th year in Greece, the Athens event has grown into the country’s largest sports gathering for a social cause and the second largest globally in the Race for the Cure series.

Participants can now register for the 5K timed race (participation fee at 10 euros), the 2K walk (at 8 euros), or the digital version (at 8 euros), which allows supporters from anywhere in Greece or around the world to take part remotely.
Team registrations are also available, encouraging groups of friends, families, or companies to join the cause together.
Those participating digitally are invited to wear their event T-shirt and cap and share photos or videos of themselves in action using the hashtag #GRFC2025 and tagging @almazois to boost awareness online.
In 2024, the Athens edition saw record numbers, with over 10,000 runners in the 5K and 35,000 walkers in the 2K, selling out well ahead of the event.
Race kits can be picked up from Alma Zois headquarters at 63 Tritis Septemvriou Street, Athens, between September 22 and 26.

As part of the 17th Greece Race for the Cure activities, a pre-event – Health Promotion Day – will be held on Saturday, Sept. 27 from noon to 6pm at Zappeion Park and includes talks on prevention and support, activities for young and old, and a sponsor’s expo.
First held in 1983 in the United States, the Race for the Cure brings together survivors, supporters, families, and advocates in a global movement to fight breast cancer. Participants traditionally wear pink, the universal color of breast cancer awareness.
Funds raised from the Athens race support local programs focused on early detection, treatment access, patient support, and public awareness campaigns across Greece.
* You can support Alma Zois and Race for the Cure by participating in a run or walk solo or with your friends or office team – register here online, as a volunteer, or by making a donation.
