A band of storms is expected to hit Greece in the coming hours, according to meteorologist Klearchos Marousakis. Today, rain will coincide with lingering heat, while temperatures are forecast to gradually drop tomorrow, reaching levels more typical for early September.
Regions on Alert
Authorities advise particular caution for northern and central areas, including Epirus, Macedonia, Thessaly, and Central Greece, where storms could be intense.
Marousakis posted: “37-degree heat and intense storms! Significant warmth will remain in eastern and southern areas, but northern regions should be alert as locally strong storms develop. Our forecasting system shows a storm band forming over Macedonia and Thessaly tonight, likely lingering for several hours. Tomorrow, instability will expand across mainland regions with northern winds dominating the seas and temperatures dropping gradually to more seasonal values.”
