Residents in the coastal district of Kalamaria in Thessaloniki were startled after spotting a large snake perched in a tree within a populated neighborhood. The unexpected visitor, measuring approximately 1.5 meters in length, sparked concern among locals, leading to an immediate call to emergency services.
Local Civil Protection authorities arrived promptly at the scene to handle the situation safely and professionally. The snake, which had climbed into a tree, was carefully removed and relocated to a more suitable natural environment.
According to footage captured by Greek broadcaster MEGA, the reptile was released into the Seih Sou forest, a large wooded area near Thessaloniki. The video showed the animal being freed without incident, bringing a calm end to what had briefly become a source of tension for the community.
Though uncommon, such encounters occasionally occur in urban areas near natural habitats, particularly during warmer months when wildlife is more active. Fortunately, no injuries were reported.
