Social Tourism Program: Results, Timeline & Eligibility

The 2026–2027 Social Tourism vouchers can be used starting May 18, 2026, and are valid for the following 12 months for eligible beneficiaries.

Preliminary results for the 2026–2027 Social Tourism Program administered by DYPA (the Greek Public Employment Service) are expected to be announced within the coming days, specifically sometime next week. A total of 816,000 applications were submitted for 300,000 available vouchers, with a combined budget of €50 million.

At this stage, applications are being evaluated through DYPA’s integrated information system. Applicants for whom no grounds for exclusion are found are scored according to a points-based system, which will determine who receives subsidies for accommodation and ferry travel. It should be noted that parents of large families who meet the eligibility requirements are exempt from this scoring process. This exemption applies exclusively to the parents, not to the children of large families who apply as beneficiaries in their own right.

Once the preliminary results are published, a window for submitting objections will also open. As set out in the program rules, participants will be able to submit a single objection, exclusively through electronic means — against the preliminary Registry of Beneficiaries and the preliminary Exclusion Lists, within a deadline to be announced by DYPA.

The 2026–2027 Social Tourism Program vouchers may be used starting May 18, 2026, and remain valid for the following 12 months.

It is worth noting that each voucher corresponds to a unique number assigned to each beneficiary and eligible household member individually. Through these vouchers, stays at tourist accommodations registered in DYPA’s Provider Registry are subsidized.

Nights and Ferry Travel

Beneficiaries may book up to 6 nights at an accommodation of their choice, with a small co-payment, following arrangements with the provider.

For the islands of Leros, Lesvos, Chios, Kos, Samos, and Rhodes, up to 10 free nights are available with no co-payment required.

In Northern Evia, the Evros regional unit, and Thessaly — excluding the Sporades — up to 12 free nights are provided at no cost to the beneficiary. These areas receive an enhanced subsidy rate throughout the entire duration of the program.

Subsidy rates increase by 20% in August, during the Christmas period (December 15, 2026 – January 14, 2027), and during Easter (April 23 – May 9, 2027).

The program also covers ferry tickets. Beneficiaries are responsible for a 25% co-payment on ferry travel, while persons with disabilities receive free ferry transportation.

What the Beneficiary Registry Will Include

The preliminary Registry of Beneficiaries and Eligible Members will list the application reference numbers of qualifying applicants, the last four digits of their tax identification number (AFM) and social security number (AMKA), as well as the points awarded per criterion, the total score, and the applicant’s ranking.

Additionally, the registry will display the first and last initials of eligible household members’ names, the last four digits of their AMKA, and an indication of whether a Social Tourism voucher has been issued. Beneficiaries listed without a voucher indication have not been selected for accommodation or ferry travel subsidies.

In Case of a Tie

In the event of a tie in points, priority is given to the applicant with more points under the first ranking criterion, followed by subsequent criteria. If a tie persists, the lower household income is taken into account, followed by the number of insured or unemployment days recorded in prior years.
