A 17-year-old student was hospitalized on Wednesday after being stabbed outside his high school in the Agios Panteleimonas district of Athens.
The incident occurred at midday on March 4 outside a school on Lela Karagianni Street, causing alarm among students and teachers. According to initial reports, an unknown individual approached the teenager and attacked him with a karambit-style knife, injuring him in the right thigh.
The injured student, who is of Cuban origin, received first aid before being transferred to the Red Cross Hospital for treatment.
A group of students who saw the 17-year-old wounded immediately alerted teachers, who then contacted police and emergency medical services. Within minutes, officers and paramedics arrived at the scene, cordoned off the area and began gathering witness statements.
The circumstances surrounding the attack remain unclear. Police are examining whether a verbal altercation preceded the stabbing, while also considering the possibility of personal differences between those involved.
Authorities are continuing their investigation to identify and arrest the suspect. Officers are reviewing security camera footage from the surrounding area and collecting testimonies from students and local residents in an effort to trace the suspect’s movements before and after the attack.
