Taxi Driver Killed in Late-Night Crash in Athens Suburb

A 55-year-old taxi driver died after a violent collision with another car shortly after midnight in Voula, a coastal suburb of Athens. Authorities are investigating the cause of the crash that also left a 23-year-old driver injured.

A 55-year-old taxi driver has died following a serious road accident that occurred shortly after midnight in the southern Athens suburb of Voula.

The crash took place at the intersection of Karamanlis Avenue and Evelpidon Street, where two vehicles collided violently in a side-front impact. The force of the collision trapped both drivers inside their vehicles.

Emergency responders quickly arrived at the scene. Two fire service vehicles with specialized rescue equipment and four firefighters worked to free the drivers from the wreckage.

The taxi driver was pulled from her vehicle with critical injuries and transported by ambulance to Asklipieio Voula Hospital. Despite doctors’ efforts, she died shortly after from her injuries.

The other driver, a 23-year-old man, was also trapped in his vehicle but sustained only minor injuries. He is currently receiving treatment in hospital.

Authorities from the traffic police investigation unit are examining the circumstances of the accident to determine the exact cause.
