The National and Kapodistrian University of Athens (UoA) hosted its 2nd annual “We Are UoA” Festival on Oct. 15, 2025, in a vibrant and symbolic celebration of academic achievement, community, and culture. The event brought together students, families, faculty, and the wider university community for a day full of energy, learning, and festivity.
Welcoming New Students
The festival opened with the reception of first-year students from all departments and faculties, along with their families and members of the university community. Attendees had the opportunity to meet faculty and staff, gaining insights into undergraduate and postgraduate programs. A highlight of the morning was the highly symbolic ceremony honoring the top-performing first-year students, a recognition of both personal dedication and academic excellence.
Career Opportunities and Networking
In parallel, the festival featured UoA’s Career Days, organized in collaboration with the University’s Career Office. This initiative connected students and alumni with over 40 leading companies across diverse sectors, offering unique opportunities to explore potential career paths and establish professional networks. The event underscored the university’s commitment to fostering not only academic excellence but also professional development.
Musical Celebration and Festive Closing
The festival concluded with a lively open-air party, featuring a performance by Music Odyssey, the talented ensemble from the Department of Music Studies at UoA. The atmosphere reflected both celebration and the strong sense of belonging that the university cultivates among its community members.
Honoring Tradition and Academic Prowess
The Rector of UoA, Professor Gerasimos Siasos, highlighted the significance of the festival and the awards ceremony. He emphasized that the recognition of high-achieving first-year students reflects the broader university community’s pride and dedication to excellence. He also noted the historic role of UoA as a 188-year-old institution that has shaped modern Greece, advanced research, and produced figures of national and global significance.
