Thessaloniki Metro to Resume Operation on Mon.

Conversely, the Penepistimio and Syntagma metro stations in central Athens will be closed for most of the day on Saturday

Thessaloniki’s metro line will resume operation on Monday after nearly a month of interrupted service due to stepped technical checks and evaluations. The latter were deemed as necessary for the commencement of a line expansion east towards the Kalamaria municipality.

The decision was announced on Friday.

Meanwhile, in a related development, the Panepistimio and Syntagma stations in central Athens will close on Saturday, the first after 9 a.m. and the second at 11 a.m. following a decision by Greek Police (EL.AS).

Saturday, Dec. 6, coincides with the 17th anniversary of teen Alexandros Grigoropoulos’ shooting by a police guard in the nearby Exarchia district. Several protests and rallies have been announced for the day in central Athens.
