Thessaloniki Police Officer Accused of Repeated Rape

A 48-year-old officer was arrested after a 51-year-old former partner accused him of repeatedly forcing her into sexual acts, threatening and insulting her, and recording intimate moments without her consent

A 48-year-old police officer has been arrested in Thessaloniki, northern Greece, over allegations including repeated rape, domestic violence, threats, insults, sexual abuse and violation of personal data laws, authorities said.

The arrest was carried out by officers from the Domestic Violence Response Office in Ampelokipi-Menemeni, part of the Thessaloniki Police Directorate. Police from the Delta Department for the Investigation of Domestic Violence filed a case against the officer.

According to a complaint filed by a 51-year-old Greek woman who had previously been in a relationship with the officer, he forced her into sexual acts against her will four times in July, using violence.

The woman also stated that the officer recorded moments from their time living together without her consent.

According to her complaint, he also threatened and insulted her.

The officer is expected to be brought before the prosecutor responsible for the case.
