Two Dead in Crashes Caused by Unlicensed Driver

A 36-year-old driver without a license caused two fatal accidents in Xanthi, killing a 71-year-old motorcyclist and his own brother, prompting police investigation and charges of negligent homicide

Tragedy struck the Xanthi region on Sunday night when a 36-year-old unlicensed driver was involved in two fatal traffic accidents, leaving two dead, including his own brother.

According to police reports, the first crash occurred in Kimmeria when the man’s car collided head-on with a motorcycle driven by a 71-year-old local businessman. The motorcyclist succumbed to his injuries despite being transported to the General Hospital of Xanthi. The driver fled the scene.

Later, authorities located the same vehicle in the village of Selero, where the 36-year-old’s 51-year-old passenger and brother was found dead. Both were transported to the hospital, and the 36-year-old driver was arrested.

The police announced that the suspect is now facing charges of negligent homicide and multiple traffic violations. The Xanthi Traffic Department has launched a full investigation into the circumstances surrounding the accidents.
