Two Polish nationals were arrested on the near-Athens island of Salamina on Monday after entering an off-limits military zone equipped with a drone and a camera. The two men, aged 20 and 24, were apprehended by police officers on charges of “violating security measures in secure areas.”

Both men were detected while walking within the perimeter of the military zone on the Saronic Gulf island and recording the area.
According to state-broadcaster ERT, the incident was reported on Monday afternoon, New Year’s Day.

A drone, a camera and two mobile phones found in the possession of the two foreign individuals were confiscated.

Salamina, located just off the south of the Athens-Piraeus mainland, hosts the Hellenic Navy’s main anchorage. It was not specified whether the two suspects had infiltrated the specific naval base.
