Violent Incident at Thriasio Hospital, Doctors Attacked

Police rushed to the scene as the group dispersed at their arrival, and two women were arrested after doctors were assaulted and property damaged

Violent incidents broke out on Tuesday afternoon at Thriasio Hospital in Elefsina, causing turmoil among patients and staff.

According to information from thriassio.gr, the events unfolded during the hospital’s on call shift, shortly after 6:00 p.m. Tension began when a group of Roma individuals gathered at the hospital, accompanying a relative. Their presence escalated into an incident, as some of them verbally and physically attacked the doctors on duty.

Amid the panic that followed, extensive property damage was caused to parts of the hospital facility. Staff tried to protect themselves, and the on call shift was temporarily suspended.

Police intervention and arrests

Strong police forces rushed to Thriasio Hospital to restore order and ensure the safety of staff and patients. Upon their arrival, most of those gathered fled the scene in order to avoid arrest.

Authorities located and detained two Roma women, who were ultimately arrested. A case file was opened against them for property damage, assault, and disrupting the normal operation of a public service.

The doctors who were attacked went to the Elefsina Police Station to give statements about the incident, which authorities have characterized as particularly serious.
