Icy cold weather today with cloudiness expected in the western regions of the country and rain in the east. Thunderstorms are also expected in the southeastern regions in the morning.
Macedonia, Thrace, mountainous areas of the mainland and Crete and semi-mountainous areas in the Magnesia region will also see some snow, although the weather is set to improve slightly in the north.
Winds will blow northeast at 3 to 5 points on the Beaufort scale in the west, north at 4 to 6 Beaufort in the east, and 7 to 8, even 9 Beaufort in the Aegean.
Temperatures are expected to drop further. Northern and central regions will not see temperatures above 5 to 7 degrees, the rest of the mainland (including the Attica region) and islands in the Ionian will see highs of 10 to 12 degrees, while the Aegean Islands will be slightly warmer with a high of 12 to 14 degrees.
The weather is anticipated to worsen come the weekend as the second cold front hits the country.
