High temperatures and the arrival of the African dust will start today, in Greece, with the heat wave lasting until Friday.

The heat in the coming days will gradually become more intense, with temperatures hovering around 40-42 degrees Celsius.

On Tuesday the weather will be fine, with sunshine and scattered clouds during the day as the African dust gradually settles in. By midday in parts of the eastern mainland, clouds will briefly thicken.

However, by the evening most of the clouds will have dissipated and overnight weather will be generally clear.

The temperature will rise throughout the country, reaching 36-39 degrees at noon, with 39 even in Evros and up to 40-41 in the eastern mainland areas and in Thessaly, in eastern Sterea Ellada, in the eastern Peloponnese.

Temperatures are expected to raise to 35-37 degrees Celsius on the Aegean islands.

The winds in the Ionian will blow from western directions in the western part of the country, between 2-3 Beaufort, and in the southern Aegean up to 5 Beaufort. The southern part of the Cyclades and northern parts of the country will have weak winds between 2-4 Beaufort.

In Attica, sparse clouds are predicted, which will be denser in places in the city at noon. The temperature will range from 25-39, maybe locally even 40 degrees, with southerly winds between 3-5 Beaufort.

Sunshine with temporary clouds is expected in Thessaloniki. The temperature will range from 24-36 degrees Celsius and the winds in Thermaikos Gulf will be southerly 2-4 Beaufort.
