With less than two weeks to go until Easter, anticipation is building among students and parents across Greece over the upcoming school holidays.
According to the official academic calendar, schools will close for the Easter break from Great Monday, April 6, through Thomas Sunday, April 19, 2026. The final day of classes before the تعطation period will be Friday, April 3, while students are scheduled to return to classrooms on Monday, April 20.
A Two-Week Break
The Easter holidays in Greece typically last around two weeks and are considered one of the most important breaks in the school year. The period offers students a chance to rest, while also allowing families to gather and observe Orthodox Easter, the most significant religious celebration in Greece.
For many, this time is associated with travel to hometowns or islands, family meals, and traditional customs leading up to Easter Sunday.
