Greek police have launched an investigation after a woman was fatally stabbed on Monday morning in Chalandri, a residential suburb in northern Athens.

Around 11:30 a.m., a neighbor alerted police that a young man armed with a knife was chasing a woman who was calling for help.

According to reports, the suspect, who was the woman’s partner, cornered her at the entrance of an apartment building on Roubesi Street and fatally stabbed her. The 47-year-old victim sustained multiple knife wounds across her body

.In a statement, police confirmed: “A woman was found fatally injured by a sharp object at the entrance of an apartment building in Chalandri. The perpetrator was arrested and taken to the Sub-Directorate for the Investigation of Crimes in Northeastern Attica, which is handling the preliminary inquiry.”

The 28-year-old perpetrator was immediately arrested by officers at the scene. He was taken to the Northeast Attica Division for Crime Investigation, which is handling the preliminary investigation.

In an official statement, the Hellenic Police confirmed the discovery of the woman fatally injured by a sharp object and the swift apprehension of the suspect.

This incident marks another tragic case of femicide in Greece, highlighting ongoing concerns about domestic violence.
