Ahead of EuroBasket 2025, Antetokounmpo 7th Best NBA Player of 21st Century

Giannis was ranked above iconic names in the game, such as Dirk Nowitzki, Kevin Durant, Kevin Garnett, and Dwayne Wade.

As the Greek men’s national basketball team readies for its opening EuroBasket 2025 game against Italy in the group phase on Thursday, August 28th, its superstar Giannis Antetokounmpo added one more accolade to his long list of achievements.

The Milwaukee Bucks superstar ranked 7th in a list of the best NBA players of the 21st century compiled by the U.S. network CBS.

Giannis was ranked above iconic names in the game, such as Dirk Nowitzki, Kevin Durant, Kevin Garnett, and Dwayne Wade.

Los Angeles Lakers’ forward, and arguably the second-best player of all time after mythical Michael Jordan, LeBron James (aka The King), topped the list, with 4-time NBA champion and one of the best shooters in the game, Steph Curry, and San Antonio Spurs’ iconic center Tim Duncan coming in 2nd and 3rd, respectively.

The “Greek Freak,” as Giannis came to be known in the United States due to his exceptional physical prowess on the floor, is an integral part of the Greek national basketball team’s campaign to go as far as possible in Europe’s top country competition, EuroBasket 2025, to be hosted in Cyprus, Finland, Poland, and Latvia.

The team’s full group-stage schedule is as follows (all times local):

Aug 28, 21:30—Greece vs. Italy
Aug 30, 18:15—Cyprus vs. Greece
Aug 31, 15:00—Georgia vs. Greece
Sep 2, 15:00—Greece vs. Bosnia & Herzegovina
Sep 4, 21:30—Spain vs. Greece
