Dortmund Gives Update on Karetsas After Hospitalization

The German club said the Greece international experienced 'circulatory problems' and was taken to hospital for further examinations after leaving the Champions League match against Villarreal

German side Borussia Dortmund provided an immediate update on the condition of Konstantinos Karetsas after the Greece international was forced to leave Tuesday night’s Champions League home match against visiting Villarreal.

Karetsas did not suffer an injury but experienced chest pains and was unable to continue playing, something clearly seen during the live broadcast. He was taken from the field on a stretcher after 23 minutes of play. German media reports citing Dortmund FC said the 18-year-old was doing well under the circumstances and was taken to a nearby hospital for further examinations.

The Dortmund club sought to reassure supporters about Karetsas’ condition as he underwent the necessary medical checks. The midfielder joined Dortmund from Belgian club Genk this summer.
