Greece’s 200m backstroke Olympic silver medalist, Apostolos Christou, is set to battle for yet another international medal. On Tuesday afternoon in Singapore, Christou will compete in the final of the men’s 100m backstroke at the World Aquatics Championships.
The 2024 season has already been a remarkable one for the Greek star. His medal cabinet boasts a bronze from the World Championships in Doha, gold from the European Championships in Belgrade, and the crowning achievement—a silver medal at the Paris Olympics.
Having qualified for the final with the fifth-fastest time, Christou enters the race in strong form. With the outcome expected to be decided by mere hundredths of a second, he is determined to once again secure a place on the podium.
The final is scheduled for 2:56 p.m. local time and will be broadcast live on Greece’s state broadcaster ERT2.
