Kostas Antetokounmpo, the younger brother of NBA superstar Giannis Antetokounmpo, has officially signed a two-year contract with Olympiacos Piraeus, the Greek basketball champions confirmed on Thursday, July 10.
The 28-year-old center had already reached a full agreement with the club, and the deal was formally finalized today. Kostas becomes the second new addition to the Olympiacos roster this summer, following the signing of American forward Tyson Ward.
The announcement was made in a formal statement by the team, underscoring the strategic decision to strengthen the Greek core of the squad. Head coach Georgios Bartzokas had personally endorsed the signing, viewing Kostas as a valuable asset for the domestic roster.
In line with this approach, Olympiacos has also acquired guard Omiros Netzipoglou from AEK and forward Antonios Karagiannidis from Promitheas Patras. Discussions with Antetokounmpo had reached an advanced stage in recent weeks, with only minor details left to finalize.
Kostas Antetokounmpo arrives in Piraeus after a brief stint in Spain with UCAM Murcia. Before that, he spent a season and a half with Panathinaikos before parting ways with the club. He also brings EuroLeague experience from his time with French side ASVEL Villeurbanne and Turkish powerhouse Fenerbahçe.
His addition is expected to provide Olympiacos with added depth in the frontcourt and bolster their domestic player quota as they prepare for the upcoming EuroLeague and Greek League campaigns.
